Left Turn Indoor Sailing Championship Recap

Congratulations to David Carlson and Ned Chapman, who took first and second place at the first annual Left Turn Indoor Sailing Championship in February. This fun event was open to LMSS sailors, MYC members and their families. Sailors had a chance to reconnect with their LMSS friends and try their hand at indoor model boat racing during the long winter off-season. Big thanks to the Brave New Workshop and the Sweeney family for hosting!

US Sailing STEM Program Starts in July!

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This year, we’ve added new STEM curriculum from US Sailing to our two-week Recreational Camp sessions.

Our goal is to foster an interest in these subjects through inquiry-based learning, structured around sailing. Sailors ages 10-16 who register for sessions 4 & 5 will participate in hands-on learning opportunities, exploring innovative fields of study like physics, marine biology, and engineering.

These new lessons will be integrated throughout our normal sailing instruction and camp activities. With the help of our US Sailing certified staff, sailors will discover how classroom concepts apply to real-world experiences. Topics include: wind, weather, lift, buoyancy, simple machines, marine debris, conservation biology, and more.
