Welcome back for year four of Adaptive Sailing! This year we are hosting one-time events on Monday and Tuesday evenings in the summer, as well as Tuesday evenings in the spring and fall (May and September). We will spend the entire class time on the water sailing (and having dance parties!).
- Taught in 23′ Sonar Keelboats, 4 – 5 sailors per boat
- Curriculum includes understanding wind direction by using methods ranging from towels flying in the air to the way our hair is flowing. All sailors have the opportunity to practice steering the boat and controlling the main sail with LMSS staff and volunteers close by.
- Class size is limited to 8-10 sailors per session
Adaptive sailing is for sailors with special needs of any age or ability.
For a 10% discount, register for all sessions in a segment: All (4) May Sessions, All (10) Summer Monday Sessions, All (9) Summer Tuesday Sessions, or All (6) Fall Sessions.
The LMSS mission is to ignite a passion for the lifetime sport of sailing. Our Adaptive Program creates a fun learning environment that allows individuals with intellectual, developmental, and cognitive differences to experience the freedom of sailing.
Note: LMSS does not have a wheelchair lift. Participants must be able to take the LMSS shuttle pontoon to Lighthouse Island, where the sailing school is located. With questions, please email [email protected].
