High school sailing at LMSS provides a team atmosphere where sailors represent their school during the fall and spring seasons. With practices and regattas tailored to various levels of experience and competition, this popular after-school activity is a perfect way to extend sailing beyond the summer.
Fall is the perfect time for those new to the sport and all returning athletes wanting to focus on skill development. Spring is dedicated to our Varsity season, which is competitive and race specific. We ask that sailors have prior sailing experience before joining teams in the Spring.
Fall 2020 high school sailing will exclusively feature singlehanded sailing in the Laser sailboat. A personally owned boat is required to participate. Sailors will practice during the week with the option to participate in LMSS-hosted race series on Saturday mornings. Local and travel regattas in the 420 will not be supported.
Fees for high school sailing include coaching and supported participation in Saturday race series. LMSS fees do not include a Laser sailboat, personal equipment, nor additional school athletic fees.
*Saturday race fees are included with Minnetonka, Breck, or Blake high school registrations.
