Water Safety Requirements
Parents must certify their child’s swimming skills. All students will be given a swimming check-out on the first day of class. This will allow the instructors to check each child’s swimming abilities. The check-out will be with life jackets on and will include:
- Swimming 50 yards unaided.
- Treading water for 1 minute.
Children will also be given a water orientation to learn self-rescue techniques with a sailboat. Failure to complete the swimming check-out will result in the child being dropped from the course without a refund.
Staff
Staff members are US Sailing certified instructors. All instructors have received American Red Cross First-Aid and CPR training from the Minnetonka Community Education Department, US SafeSport Certification, and CDC Heads Up Concussion Training. Our curriculum is developed from the US Sailing Certification Series, the national standard for quality sailing instruction, as well as proprietary LMSS, Inc. teaching systems.
