Scholarship Application Now Open
/in Uncategorized /by adminThe Woody Jewett Scholarship Fund is now available. The resounding purpose of this fund is to make it possible for more youth to pursue competitive sailing by offsetting the cost of lessons for kids and families as they progress from novice sailors to more advanced racing. Scholarships are available on an individual and group basis. See application for additional details.
Scholarship application deadline is February 15. Scholarships are limited and will be awarded based on need and availability. Partial scholarship funds will be applied to LMSS tuition for a class or group fee, and are not applicable to equipment, gear or travel fees. Registration for 2020 Goes Live January 1

From beginner recreational camps through advanced race teams, and our popular STEM-focused sessions, there’s something for every age and ability, no experience required. U.S. Sailing accredited, LMSS emphasizes safety and skills development for a lifetime of sailing.

Minnetonka Students Earn State and Regional Fall Sailing Titles

Youth Training Event with Olympic Hopefuls
/in Uncategorized /by adminJoin us! Youth sailors are invited to Lighthouse Island August 29, 1-4pm to listen to a Chalk Talk and participate in an informal regatta with ILYA aspiring Olympians, Harry Melges IV and Finn Rowe.
Hear how world class sailors like Harry and Finn prepare for racing, including their path to Tokyo 2020. Following the Chalk Talk, join an informal regatta featuring 5-6 short races with on the water coaching from Harry and Finn.
All Opti, X Boat and 420 sailors welcome. Regatta sailed in Optis and 420s. See flyer and link for details; event is FREE for participants.

Minnetonka Middle and High School Fall Sailing Kickoff

We will be going over important information about the upcoming season including scheduling, team gear and volunteer opportunities. Please bring your checkbook to complete payment for team fees.
MHS Eligibility Requirements

LMSS BBQ and Open Sail
/in Uncategorized /by adminAll LMSS sailors are invited back out to Lighthouse Island on Monday, August 19th for an open sail and BBQ from 5:30 – 7:30pm. This is your chance to invite your friends and family, show them your sailing skills and enjoy dinner! Shuttles will be running from Park Ave & the Carson Bay Facility starting at 5:30 pm.
LMSS boats available for open sail:
Pram, Hartley 12, Opti, 420, Sonar (instructor present)
Sailors must bring their own lifejackets. All sailors 10 and under, please have a lifejacket on at all times while on Lighthouse Island. Non-LMSS friends and family members will be asked to sign a waiver prior to heading out on the water for a sail.

Pulled pork and chicken sliders, chips, fruit, and root beer floats, $6/per person.
