X-Boat Race Team
The X-boat is the next step for Opti Intermediate/Advanced sailors. Sailors must have prior sailing and racing experience to participate in this class.
In these sessions, sailors will learn how to effectively communicate with their crew, strengthen their knowledge of proper rigging and tuning techniques, and develop their racing tactics/strategy. By the end of the summer, sailors should feel confident competing at regattas required by LMSS coaches and staff, including the ILYA X Inland, hosted at LMSS in 2025.
Sailors are expected to be members of Minnetonka Yacht Club and participate in weekly racing through the club. Sailors are also expected to participate in local and regional events throughout the summer.
Sailors will be shuttled to Bug Island with their equipment, ready to start class at scheduled time. Class runs Monday-Thursday (no Friday!).

Registration is per boat, which includes the skipper and crew.
*Additional regatta travel fees will apply outside of the Twin Cities. Participants attending events will be responsible for their travel expenses in addition to covering lodging, rental vehicles, gas, and food for LMSS staff. LMSS will cover staff hourly and salary expenses.
