Opti Learn to Race

Opti Learn to Race is the next step for young Rec camp sailors. Geared for both inexperienced and experienced sailors aged 8-12, learning the basics of racing starts here! Class runs full days for two weeks, 9am-4pm. Towards the end of the session, sailors are encouraged to participate in local Green Fleet Regattas (Part of Twin Cities Youth Sailing — TCYS).

• Use your own Opti or a LMSS provided boat

• Students will learn upwind/downwind sailing, starting sequences, mark roundings, rules, rigging, knot tying, and general seamanship

• Sign up for “Island Time” – the LMSS early drop-off/late pick-up program for drop-off as early as 8am and pickup as late as 4pm

Prerequisite: Per Coach Recommendation — Recreational Camp

Next Step: Per Coach Recommendation — Repeat Opti Learn to Race, Opti Intermediate/Advanced Race Team, or Spring/Fall Opti Race Team
