Learn to Sail (Rec) 7-9 — Prams
These one-week classes are focused on fun and learning, with curriculum appropriate for both novice and more experienced recreational sailors. 8:30AM - 3:30PM.
We focus on sailing fundamentals, including boat/water safety, steering, upwind and downwind sailing, sail trim, knot tying, and sailing terminology. With these skills, sailors will develop the ability to control their boats and adjust to different conditions on the water. Boats for this class are provided by LMSS.
Families are welcome to join us on Friday afternoons of each session to watch your sailors in action and for a graduation ceremony to celebrate their learning.
Instructors will suggest the next step for each sailor based on their skills and abilities throughout the week. We recommend signing up for two or more Recreational Sailing sessions prior to advancing to Learn to Race.
NEW IN 2025: Dual Language — Spanish — Sailing Camp at LMSS!
This class will be a fun way for students to continue their exposure to and practice with the language at Sailing in a casual, lighthearted environment. This is the first year of this offering, so it will be a low-pressure opportunity for sailors to engage with Spanish-speaking LMSS Staff. Sailors are not required to speak to coaches in Spanish, but are strongly encouraged to make the most of the opportunity. Lessons will be taught primarily in Spanish, but English will be used as needed to ensure understanding and safety.
When registering on Active select “Dual Language — Spanish Age 7-9 Session 03” (or 06).
Prerequisite – None
Next Step – Per Coach Recommendation: Repeat Recreational Camp or move to Opti Learn to Race
