Women on the Water

Get out on the water with all female sailors and learn the basics of sailing or enjoy the peacefulness of time on the water (Sonar — Rec/Learn to Sail) or learn to race in the new RS Fevas and hear from Minnetonka Yacht Club racers on the steps to racing, with the opportunity to join a crew list for future racing. The class is taught by women, for women!

• Sonar — Rec/Learn to Sail: Taught in 23′ Sonar Keelboats, 4 – 5 sailors per boat, along with an instructor. No experience required.

  • Curriculum includes understanding points of sail, and sailing upwind and downwind through discussion, diagrams, and participation

• Feva — Learn to Race: Taught in LMSS’s new RS Feva XL sailboats, 2-3 sailors per boat.

  • Pre-requisite: “LMSS Sonar — Rec/Learn to Sail” class in 2025 season, or with prior approval from Rec Director.

Our LMSS mission is to ignite a passion for the lifetime sport of sailing. This program supports and encourages women’s involvement in the sport. Whether you have campers in our program, you’ve always wanted to try sailing, or you are a seasoned sailor, you are welcome at LMSS.
