Opti intermediate/advanced is the next step for Opti Learn to Race sailors or young sailors ages 9 – 14 with some prior experience who enjoy a competitive environment and are looking for a more rigorous class to improve their skills. This is the first class of the LMSS Race Team, the best platform to grow young sailors.
- Intermediate and Advanced groups taught in Opti racing sailboats
- Students will continually work to improve their skills, focusing on: boat speed upwind and downwind, starting practice, mark roundings, boat handling, understanding of the rules, and rigging techniques specific to racing Optis
- Intermediate sailors will practice with Advanced sailors, but break off into their own groups when needed
- Sailors will be expected to participate in local and regional events throughout the duration of the session
- During TCYS events and other LMSS sanctioned regattas, there will be no practice at LMSS
- LMSS Opti Charter fee: 100$/session or 175$/full summer
