Opti Learn to Race
For LMSS Sailors Age 8 – 11
When sailors are ready to participate in a more competitive environment, Opti Learn to Race is the perfect place to start. Geared for both inexperienced and experienced sailors aged 8-11, learning the basics of racing starts here!
- Taught in Opti Racing Sailboats which are used locally, regionally and nationally at regattas
- Use your own Opti, or use LMSS provided opti ($90)
- Students will learn upwind/downind sailing, starting sequences, mark rounding’s, rules, rigging, knot tying and general seamanship
- Towards the end of the session, sailors may choose to participate in local Green Fleet Regattas (Part of Twin Cities Youth Sailing)
- Class size is limited to 20 sailors

Prerequisite: Recreational Camp, or Prior Sailing Experience
