Safety, Our First Priority
All LMSS Instructors have received Red Cross First-Aid/CPR training, CDC Heads Up Concussion Training, as well as the US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification. All students and staff are required to wear a PFD at all times when in and near the water. LMSS works to keep instructor-to-student ratios low.
At LMSS, we offer a progression of classes to fit the needs of every student at any age, ability, or experience level. Our program is organized into two tracks: Recreational Sailing and LMSS Race Teams. Sailors are encouraged to advance through these tracks as their skills improve.
Our path to sailing success
-
Designed for students who have little or no experience, or who want to enjoy a noncompetitive environment. These classes cover the basics of sailing, allowing students to gain confidence on the water and develop relationships with other sailors their age.
-
Designed for intermediate and advanced sailors who have previous race experience, the LMSS Race Teams have a mix of practices at LMSS and dedicated coaching at regattas to maximize improvement and meet individual goals.
-
Evening offerings at LMSS are designed to provide a quality sailing experience for adults & families who have anywhere from no experience to those who are looking to learn to race and eventually participate in Minnetonka Yacht Club Racing. Evening offerings are perfect for adults, families, and sailors with special needs.
